Devo’s First Beach Trip

Devo is seeming so much more herself this past week. Today is 18 days post op. Stitches are out, chemo is started, off all pain meds. We went to the beach for the first time as a tripawd family. It was bittersweet for me — she’s still healing and gets tired so easily. I don’t know what it was like for her, but I hope she liked smelling the ocean air and eating a dead fish she found on the sand!

  1. Things get so much better after that first couple of weeks! How nice to have a trip to the beach ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Yay for eating dead fish at the beach! lol! Too cute.

I’m so happy you guys are settling into the new normal. These are the moments that amputation gives, the good times that seemed so ordinary before are now HUGE reasons to celebrate!

I remember our first beach trip back with Jerry. I was so nervous. But he wasn’t! He did great. Like Devo, he was tired from the excursion. I later learned that walking in sand is a LOT of work so as a new Tripawd, it doesn’t surprise me that she’s tired. As time goes on and she gets strong, the sand won’t be so much work as long as you take things slow.

Did everything go OK with chemo? Any side effects? Let us know how she’s doing.

    Cheers to your amazing girl!

  3. Thanks Jerry ๐Ÿ™‚ Chemo is ok so far, some upset stomach and sad poos, so hopefully that will be over soon. Blood work this week Wednesday.

That makes sense about sand being especially hard for a tripawd, it’s hard for me sometimes too!

  4. Wonderful update!! Just wonderful!!
And this is sich a great picture of a very happy dog enjoying HER beach!! And I guarandarntee ya’ she thoroughly e joued everything about being at the beach. And yes, the dead fish prize was the best part!!

The Onco can maybe give you some preventative meds with the next treatment to settle her tummy and help with poop

Always love seeing Devo’s banneron her blog. Lovely on so many levels๐Ÿ˜Ž
    Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
